Marketing is changing because the world is changing

I found a cool article about things that became obsolete (or near obsolete) in the first decade of the 21st century, and it really brought me home to the reality of the sweeping changes in, not only how we communicate, but how we live.

Think about all we've taken for granted for so long that tomorrow's children will have no practical knowedge of:

  • Printed catalogs, maps, magazines and newspapers
  • Long distance charges
  • The evening news
  • CDs
  • Film cameras
  • Forgotten friends
  • Encyclopedias
  • Handwritten letters
  • Wrist watches
The list goes on. Sitting here in quiet, comfortable Wichita, Kansas, reading about these and other emerging "artifacts" in the context of a single article was a bit jarring for me. Read it here, then click back and leave your thoughts and comments below.
